Sunita Sheel is an Anthropologist by training. She completed her doctoral studies in social-cultural Anthropology. Her interest lies in applied social science research. She is engaged in social science research in health, especially women’s health over the last 10 years. Currently she is a Scientist at the Centre for Enquiry into Health and Allied Themes (CEHAT), a Non-Government Organisation situated in Maharashtra, India.

The thrust area of her work over last 10 years has been abortion - research and advocacy related work in India. Has worked with various stake holders in this regard. She is a visiting faculty at different universities and research institutes in India. Teaches medical antrhopology and research methodology. Currently pursuing MHSc programme on the fellowship awared under Fogarty International Fellow Programme at the Joint Centre for Bioethics Unoveristy of Toronto
